Micah S. Ziegler

Micah is an assistant professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Yidong (Andrew) Hua

Yidong(Andrew) is a first year PhD student in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He is currently working on a project about carbon management in the pulp and paper industry. He enjoys traveling and exploring new places.


Mary Priscilla Perkins

Mary is entering her third year as a chemical and biomolecular engineer major. She is a huge movie fan and loves dogs. She is studying direct air capture!


Vivian Ritter

Vivian is a second-year undergraduate Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering major, with a minor in Sustainable Cities. She’s interested in sustainable processes and sustainable technology within industry. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, playing video games, and going thrifting! 


Asa Sappington

Asa is a first year PhD student in the school of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. His current project focuses on clean and sustainable energy alternatives in the pulp and paper industry. His hobbies include CrossFit, video & board games, kickball, and baking.


Sebastian Turcios

Sebastian is a second-year Chemical engineering student at Georgia Tech. His interests within the industry are energy systems and renewable technologies. Within his free time, Sebastian enjoys reading, playing video games, and watching soccer.


Judy Xie

Judy is a postdoctoral fellow in the Ziegler Research Group working on Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology change and equitable deployment. She holds a Ph.D. in Climate and Energy Policy from Imperial College London in the UK (2024) and a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Georgia Tech (2019). Her Ph.D. research focused on quantitative insights into different justice considerations in the energy transition and was supervised by Prof. Joeri Rogelj and Dr. Iain Staffell. She has previously worked on heterogeneous catalysis as an undergrad with Prof. Chris Jones at Tech, biomass conversion at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and DAC sorbent degradation at Global Thermostat (a DAC startup that used to be in the ATDC program). Judy’s current hobbies are painting, film photography, and kickboxing.
